Descrizione

È una pispola piccola e tozza, lunga 17 cm e pesa 36 g. La specie ha gambe lunghe, artigli posteriori lunghi e coda corta. Costruisce nidi con erba secca, solitamente all'interno dell'erba tussac , e depone quattro uova all'anno. Si nutre di piccoli insetti, ragni e detriti della spiaggia.

Diffusione

Si trova solo nell'arcipelago della Georgia del Sud, al largo della penisola antartica. È l'unico uccello canoro dell'Antartide, l'unico passeriforme della Georgia del Sud e uno dei pochi uccelli non marini della regione.
